Blog #11 - Tools for Tough Days
Some days feel heavy , the kind where your energy is low, your mind is cluttered, and even the smallest decisions feel like a stretch. Over time, I’ve collected a personal toolkit for days like that. It’s not about ignoring the hard moments but about having simple ways to breathe, reset, and keep going.
Here’s my growing list:
⸻
1. The Gift of Rest
Last week, on my day off, I felt that familiar heaviness, the kind of stress that creeps in quietly and makes even the smallest tasks feel like climbing a hill.
Then I remembered, I had the number of a home masseuse tucked away.
So I booked an appointment. Why? Because as a woman, I’ve learned that I deserve to enjoy the good things in life without guilt. That hour of deep tissue massage was more than just a treat , it was a reset button.
My mood lifted instantly. I came back to my family lighter, calmer, more present. That evening, I played board games with the kids , laughing, losing, and winning without thinking about my to-do list.
Sometimes, the best tool for a tough day is simply to pause, breathe, and let someone take care of you.

2. Fresh Air, Fresh Perspective
A slow walk outside, even for just 15 minutes, can do wonders. No podcast. No calls. Just the sound of your feet on the ground and the wind against your face.
⸻
3. A Warm Drink Ritual
There’s something about holding a warm cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, and taking the time to savour it without distraction. It forces you to slow down and breathe.
⸻
4. Music That Moves You
Whether it’s soft worship music or a throwback playlist that makes you dance in the kitchen, music has a way of shifting the atmosphere inside and around you.
⸻
5. Words That Anchor You
On my hardest days, I return to the scriptures that have carried me before. I keep them in a little notebook or saved on my phone so they’re easy to reach for when I need them.
⸻
6. A Kindness Reset
Doing something thoughtful for someone else , sending a kind message, baking for a neighbour, or writing a thank-you note , often lifts my own spirit more than I expect.
Remember: Tough days will come, but having a small set of tools ready means you’ll never be without a way to shift the weight, even just a little.
