Blog #6 - Words from the Birth Room
⸻
Oh, those few seconds after birth—the hush, the stillness, the sacred pause.
It’s the kind of silence that holds its breath, waiting…
Waiting for that joyful, unmistakable sound:
the first cry of a newborn.
Nothing compares.
Time slows.
Hearts race.
And then—there it is.
That cry. That declaration of life.
The moment everything changes.
⸻
In that moment, we all pause to soak it in.
It’s more than just the arrival of a baby—
it’s the forming of a family.
A mother. A father. A child.
Suddenly, beautifully, they are one.
The love in the room becomes almost tangible—
thick in the air like the warmth of a summer evening.
The beauty of creation unfolding before our eyes.
Oh, God of creation—what a masterpiece You’ve made.
⸻
Then comes the cord—
that sacred tether between mother and child.
When fathers are offered the chance to cut it,
some hesitate or decline.
I smile—not out of judgment,
but from a deep sense of honor.
Because for me,
that act of cutting the cord is more than a moment.
It’s a declaration.
A release.
A commissioning.
⸻
When I cut that cord, I do so with reverence.
I whisper a silent prayer:
“Go now, little one. The world awaits you.
May you walk in purpose. Grow in strength.
May your life bring light, hope, and healing.”
⸻
And then, we witness the miracle of instinct—
how a newborn, barely seconds old,
begins to search for the breast.
No one teaches them how.
They just know.
The first latch.
The first feed.
The soft cry.
Tiny fingers curling around another’s.
Every movement whispers of survival, trust, connection.
⸻
In the labor and the birth,
something divine happens.
Something far beyond medicine or science.
A sacred exchange between heaven and earth.
The birth room becomes a sanctuary,
where love is born alongside life,
and where strength is laid bare in its most primal form.
⸻
To witness this again and again
is the greatest privilege.
And yet, no two births are ever the same.
Each one carries its own story.
Its own rhythm.
Its own quiet lesson.
⸻
In a world so fast-paced and loud,
birth reminds us to pause.
To feel.
To marvel.
To believe in beginnings.
