🧹 On Cleaning, Disappointment, and Trusting Myself Again

Published: August 2, 2025

🪷 Today, I got out of bed and decided I was going to clean the whole house.

Not because I had the time or energy (honestly, I didn’t). And not because I had no help. I had actually booked a cleaner. But I remembered how disappointed I was the last time she came.

Four hours in my home — and she left the bathrooms untouched.

I remember tipping her generously, assuming she’d done a fabulous job. I didn’t even go upstairs to check. I trusted her.

Only to discover later… she hadn’t done half the job.

✨ This morning, I realised it wasn’t worth repeating that disappointment.

I’d rather lose the money I’d already paid on the app than sit with that heavy, helpless feeling again. So I cancelled the appointment, tied up my scarf, put on my gloves, and got to work.

Not in frustration — in intention.

This wasn’t just about a messy house.

It was about reclaiming control.

Reclaiming peace.

Reclaiming trust in myself.

💭 I’ve learned that some disappointments weigh more than a mop ever will.

There’s something empowering about doing the thing yourself, for yourself.

There’s something healing about saying, “I’ve got this.”

Today, the house got clean.

But more than that, I got clear — on boundaries, on expectations, and on the quiet strength it takes to choose yourself again.

📌 Let’s talk about it…

Have you ever chosen to walk away from disappointment — even if it cost you?

Share your reflections below. I’d love to hear from you.
